First Voice Membership

Benefit of Membership

First Voice is the Australian and overseas voice for member organisations whose primary focus is the provision of listening and spoken language for children who are deaf or hearing impaired.

First Voice advocates for world-class early intervention services that give children the listening and spoken language skills necessary to achieve mainstream education, employment of choice and social integration in the hearing world.

Our mission is to:

  1. Provide advocacy and leadership on all matters relating to early childhood deafness.
  2. Conduct and disseminate research on listening and spoken language outcomes.
  3. Change the perception of what is possible for children with hearing loss.

First Voice centres have been working together informally, as Six Centre Alliance – collaborating and sharing best practices – for almost 15 years prior to the formation of First Voice in 2010.

The benefit your organisation will receive by becoming a First Voice member is the knowledge and experience gained by the largest collective of multi-disciplinary, family-centred early intervention program providers supporting hearing impaired children and their families across Australia, New Zealand and overseas.

First Voice members lead, advocate, influence and collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders to ensure that hearing impaired children and their families have access to well-funded, evidence-based listening and spoken language early intervention services.

Our members maintain an active research agenda, and work in collaboration with research institutions to conduct research relevant to young people with hearing loss.

We work closely with governments at all levels to inform public policy on matters related to deafness and hearing impairment in young people in our region.
